Hob with extractor

It has become an indispensable part of the modern kitchen: the hob with a built-in extractor. The large extractor hood above the kitchen island is a thing from the past!

Due to the built-in extraction, there is no longer a need to mount a large element on the ceiling, which obstructs your view of the living room. The hob with extractor is not only an added value above a cooking island, even if you cook against the wall. No more risk of bumping your head against the extractor, but a free wall where you can expose something decorative or cook in front of the window, for example.

How does it work?

Depending on the brand and type of hob, there is a circular or rectangular recess in the middle. Air is drawn in through this recess. Even before the cooking vapors can rise, the powerful extraction system draws the vapor downwards. The extraction speed is therefore, stronger than the ascent speed. And of course our experts can help you to make a good choice.

Recirculation or exhaust to the outside?

Just like a normal extractor hood, you can choose for recirculation or exhaust air to the outside with a hob with an extractor. Recirculation can nearly always be used. If you want a drain to go outside, a professional can determine how this can be realized. In many cases, it is possible to have the drainage channel run behind the kitchen cabinets towards the outer wall. This sometimes requires a somewhat deeper worksheet. Sometimes it is also possible to go outside through the crawl space or cellar. This makes it possible to use a hob in a cooking island with an outlet to the outside.

Both options have their own pros and cons. For example, a recirculation hob is easier to use, because no ducts are needed and there is no need to make a hole in the outer wall. With recirculation, it is necessary to replace the filter about once a year.

How do you clean it?

A question often asked is: how do you clean such a hob and what if cooking liquid gets into it? If the pan boils over this is not a problem. There is a collecting tray under the grid, which you can wipe with a cloth. This will not damage the electronics. In addition, most parts can be washed by hand or even in the dishwasher.

The video below shows what to do if the pan has boiled over.

Please note: always check in the manual which parts can and cannot go in the dishwasher. This can differ per brand and type.
